Contacting Us

When you call H&L Mobile Veterinary Services, Dr. Leone most often answers the phone herself. That means you get an efficient answer as quickly as possible, whether you need to schedule an urgent appointment or need help deciding whether your pet should go to an emergency veterinary hospital instead.

Because Dr. Leone personally handles calls, reviews medical records, estimates, and scheduling, appointment slots are limited and valuable.

Booking & Deposit

A $115 nonrefundable deposit is required to book an appointment, paid by credit or debit card at the time of scheduling.

Adding pets to the same visit adds $205 per additional pet to your deposit:

1 pet: $115
2 pets: $115 + $205 = $320

Your deposit holds your appointment slot and reflects the block of time reserved for your visit. It is not refunded if you cancel (a 48 hour cancellation or rescheduling notice is preferred) or reduce the number of pets being seen, even with 48 hours' notice.

Payment

We accept credit and debit cards, cash, and check.

Card payments carry a 3% processing fee. Paying by cash or check avoids the fee.

Our Van & Your Space

We drive a Ford Transit Connect XL. It carries our equipment and supplies, but it is not large enough for appointments inside the van. Instead, we bring our supplies into your home and typically set up in your living room or another space that's comfortable for you and your pet.

We ask for a clean, safe space to work since our medical equipment needs to stay sanitary. If anyone smokes in the home, please avoid smoking on the day of the appointment and have windows open or fans running before we arrive.

We're flexible.

We're flexible, and happy to work in a garage, outside (weather permitting), or in any room that works best for you.

Preparing Your Cat

Cats do best in a small room, like a bathroom, where they can't hide under or behind anything like beds, couches, and heavy furniture. This lets our team secure them quickly with minimal stress and keep them nearby when they need a short break.

During Your Appointment

Before we begin, Dr. Leone sits down with you to talk through your pet's daily life and history and, to review the estimate for the visit. We then prepare our materials, drawing up vaccines and setting up for blood collection ahead of time, so your pet spends as little time being restrained as possible. This matters most for cats with limited patience and dogs who will only sit still for a treat for so long.

Legal Requirements

These two rules apply to every client:

Annual exam: Pennsylvania law requires Dr. Leone to perform an exam of your pet at least once every 12 months to legally provide medical care or prescriptions. This visit is what maintains the veterinary client-patient relationship with you and your pet.

Rabies vaccination: Pennsylvania law also requires dogs and cats, including indoor-only cats of any age, to stay current on their rabies vaccination. This is enforced by animal control due to the risk of exposure from bats and rodents that can enter the home. Rabies cases have been rising nationally and because rabies can spread to people, Dr. Leone takes this very requirement seriously.
